Eight children!
William and Christina's children were William (born 1871), Charles (1873), John Ludwig (1875), Lawrence Hannah (1876), Minnie Maud (1878, my grandmother), Edith Lina (1879), Edith Grace (1880) and Ethel Dorothy Louisa (1894) ... by that time they must have decided to use all the names they could think of!

Meeting the other descendants
When I lived at Pukerua Bay, I was surprised to discover that a neighbour, Harry Harrison, was actually a relation ... and in his house was the family Bible which William Stagg gave his wife Christina. Harry and his family are descended from Lawrence Hannah Stagg, who married John Harrison.
One of Edith Grace Stagg's descendants made the news when she had a child sired by Princess Anne's ex-husband Mark Phillips.
Through Lucy Stagg, there's a connection to former NZ Prime Minister Keith Holyoake.

Descendants of Elizabeth Stagg
Sarah Stagg's daughter Elizabeth was born just a few weeks before poor Sarah died of tuberculosis, aged only 36. Elizabeth lived a long and fulfilling life and I've been pleased to meet some of her descendants, one of whom has written a family history.

This book, by Ruth Allan, published in 1965, is a very useful account of the history of Nelson.
